Infection Control
Since dental care involves direct contact with fluids like saliva and sometimes blood, it’s necessary to practice infection control so that disease doesn’t spread. At Smiles Dental, we do this through strict sterilization measures and cross-contamination processes.
That means that we are using heat and special machines to sterilize our dental instruments. We are properly disposing of anything that is single-use. For example, our team members utilize protective gear, such as gloves which we throw away after each patient. On top of that, we sterilize surfaces like dental chairs and countertops with disinfectant.

We don’t simply decide what we think is an adequate amount of disinfection or sterilization. Smiles Dental follows the guidelines in place by major organizations. These include the American Dental Association (ADA), Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). By following their recommendations, if not exceeding them, we can confidently ensure our patients’ safety.

Aside from the processes in place at our practice, we also take another approach to patient safety by pursuing continuing education and additional training courses.
