Jeromy R. Dixson, DMD / President (Smiles Dental Longview)
Dr. Jeromy Dixson was born in Portland, Oregon and raised in Southwest Washington. He graduated from Mountain View High School in Vancouver. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from Southern Illinois University, School of Dental Medicine.
Dr. Dixson enjoys most everything about the profession of dentistry, especially the transformation of a patient’s smile and self-esteem through the art and science of cosmetic dentistry. His patients have come to love his friendly demeanor and gentle style, which can make even the most anxious patient comfortable in his dental chair. He is focused on a consistently positive patient experience.
Dr. Dixson is also passionate about improving the oral health of individuals in our community who do not have regular access to quality dental care. He maintains memberships in the Clark County Dental Society, the Washington State Dental Association, the American Dental Association and the American Academy of Dental Group Practice.
Dr. Dixson and his wife Jocelyn have three young sons, Parker, Tyler and Luke. In his free time he enjoys family, weightlifting, reading non-fiction books, slow-pitch softball, golf, serving in his church and traveling.
Jared T. Doman, DMD (Smiles Dental Longview)
Dr. Jared Doman was born in Eastern Oregon and grew up in Central California. He became heavily involved in football, wrestling, and baseball, and was an Eagle Scout by age 13.
After high school, Dr. Doman spent two years in Brazil serving a church mission. He then attended BYU-Idaho and played football during his studies. In 2001, he was named an Academic All-American.
Dr. Doman graduated with Honors from OHSU School of Dentistry in 2007 and joined the Smiles team shortly thereafter. He loves the positive work environment and the interaction he has with his patients. His main goal every day is for his patients to know through his careful attention to detail that they benefit from his best efforts.
Dr. Doman is a member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, and the Lower Columbia Dental Society. He still enjoys sports and outdoor activities such as fishing and camping. He has fun doing just about anything with his wife, Kim, whom together is raising their four beautiful children here in Southwest Washington.
Derrik P. Stark, DDS (Smiles Dental Longview & Ridgefield)
Dr. Derrik Stark was born and raised in Twin Falls, Idaho. Dr. Stark earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University. He then attended and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in Maryland.
Dr. Stark enjoys all aspects of dentistry and cares deeply for his patients. He loves the self-confidence and joy that comes when someone gains the smile they’ve always wanted. He understands that the dental chair can be a nervous experience for many. He feels it is important to take the time necessary to make every appointment a comfortable and wonderful experience.
Dr. Stark and his wife Jen have three children, Will, Jonathan, and Kate. His hobbies include outdoor activities, basketball, golf, and reading. Dr. Stark and his family love the Pacific Northwest and feel lucky to call Washington their home.
Sarah S. Barber, DDS (Smiles Dental E. Vancouver)
Dr. Sarah Barber was born and raised in Sacramento, CA and later received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis.
Before attending dental school and earning her DDS from Creighton University, Dr. Barber worked as a pre-school teacher at a private elementary school. Her interest and patience with children has carried over into her practice of dentistry as well.
Dr. Barber enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and has a particular interest in oral surgery and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Barber believes communication with patients is the key to successful dental treatment. She understands that some patients are frightened to visit the dentist.
Her goal is to make all of her patients comfortable and make each visit a pleasant experience. Dr. Barber looks forward each day to providing five star care to all of her patients.
Kurt S. Tingey, DMD (Smiles Dental Hazel Dell)
Dr. Kurt S. Tingey was born in Provo, Utah and has lived in various locations throughout the United States, including Laie, Hawaii, St. George, Utah, and Washington, D.C., before finally settling in Pocatello, Idaho. In high school he participated in football, basketball, and track and field. He achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After high school, Dr. Tingey served an LDS Church mission to Recife, Brazil, speaking the Portuguese language.
Dr. Tingey attended Brigham Young University-Idaho for two years participating in football, prior to transferring to Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, where he received his bachelors degree. Dr. Tingey attended dental school at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where he received his DMD. Upon graduation he worked in Las Vegas prior to moving to the Northwest. In the time that Dr. Tingey has lived in Washington, he has grown to love the people and natural beauty of the state.
Dr. Tingey enjoys all aspects of dentistry. He finds great satisfaction in working together with patients to provide treatment that will improve their oral health, self confidence and self-esteem. Dr. Tingey enjoys building great relationships with patients and instilling confidence in them that each visit will be a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Mick Brooks, DDS (Smiles Dental Tumwater)
Dr. Mick Brooks was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. Dr. Brooks earned his Undergraduate Degree at Youngstown State University. He then attended and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from Ohio State University.
While practicing in Ohio Dr. Brooks gave back to his profession by becoming an Instructor at Youngstown State University in the Hygiene Department. His dedication to dentistry and his love for his country led Dr. Brooks to serve in the United States Army, Special Forces. In Special Forces not only was he a solider but worked with the coalition and host nation forces in providing dental care on numerous outreach missions, resulting in improved dental health with the local populace and enhance capabilities among local providers. Dr. Brooks was also responsible for the dental training and continuing education of approximately 125 Special Forces Medical Sergeants.
Dr. Brooks and his wife Linda have three children, Joe, Maggie and Gus. He and Linda love riding their horses on Washington’s beautiful coast.
Dennis Gillespie, DMD (Smiles Dental Ridgefield)
Dr. Dennis Gillespie was born and raised in Vancouver, Washington where he graduated from Mountain View High School. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and Chemistry from Brigham Young University. He then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry, graduating with High Honors.
Dr. Gillespie’s favorite aspect of dentistry is interacting with his patients. He enjoys helping them maintain good oral health and improving their smiles. He strives to form a positive and comfortable relationship with each patient.
He enjoys all sports, reading, serving in his Church, and spending time with his wife, Kristin, and their two sons, Liam and Damon. Dr. Gillespie is a member of the American Dental Association, Washington State Dental Association, Clark County Dental Society, and the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Cheryl Cooper, DDS (Smiles Dental Salem)
Dr. Cheryl Cooper is a seasoned dental professional with 17 years of experience. She completed her dental degree at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in May of 1995. She then completed a 1 year Advance Education in General Dentistry residency at the University of Nebraska. She and her husband, Sean, moved to Salem in 1997. She worked in Salem for 7 years. For the past 8 years she has been an associate with an office in Albany before making the trip back up to Salem to practice with us here at Smiles.
Dr. Cooper has two very active boys and enjoys spending time with them during their various activities. She is a US Masters swimmer and is an early riser for her workouts with the BearCats Masters team. She and her husband are very active leaders with Boy Scout troop 19 here in Salem where both of her boys are on their way to earning their Eagle Scout rank. Dr. Cooper and her oldest son, Colin, are singers and musicians with their Praise team at Salem First Christian Church.
Dave R. Matthews, DMD (Smiles Dental Eugene)
Dr. Matthews has been a dentist in the Eugene / Springfield area since 1984. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Music in 1970, Master of Arts in Music in 1974, both from the University of Oregon. He taught music in Oregon public schools and college before becoming a dentist. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1984 from Oregon Health Sciences University.
Dr. Matthews belongs to the American Dental, Oregon Dental and Lane Dental Associations. He has been in various dental study groups and has trained with Dr. Charles Ruddle in endodontics. Dr. Matthews also plays sax in a local dance band and loves to read, farm, travel and sail. He and his wife, Carol, have two children. The eldest son graduated from Berklee Conservatory of Music in Boston and works in Portland. His youngest son graduated from the University of Oregon, and plans to go to law school after serving as a lieutenant in the Army. The family attends First Baptist Church in Eugene.
Kris Blodgett, DMD (Smiles Dental Salem & Woodburn)
Dr. Kris Blodgett is a unique dentist in what he brings to the Woodburn and Salem communities. He understands that most patients would like to keep their dental care in one office and not have to travel to specialists. Dr. Blodgett is a 2002 graduate of OHSU Dental School and completed a one-year General Practice Residency at the Portland VA Medical Center, which focused on extensive training in dental implants, root canals and complex surgical cases. This training allows our offices to keep the majority of dental care in-house. During the past 10 years in private practice, Dr. Blodgett has expanded his training through continuing education in the application and use of dental lasers and adult braces (6 month Smiles).
Dr. Blodgett grew up in SW Portland and attended Wilson High School where he met his wife, Jacqueline. They enjoy raising their three children. When not at work, Dr. Blodgett enjoys an active lifestyle of skiing in the winter and golfing and biking during the summer.
Dr. Blodgett looks forward to meeting each new patient. His aim is to make you feel comfortable, safe and well taken care of.
Dr. Chen, DMD (Smiles Dental Longview & East Vancouver)
Dr. Chen was born in Taiwan and immigrated to the United States in 2000. He came here to continue his schooling at the University of Southern California to follow his passion for being an Endodontist. He practiced in California for 10 years and decided to move up to the Northwest with his family in 2011.
Dr. Chen enjoys most everything about dentistry and his patients have come to love his friendly and caring personality. Dr Chen is most concerned about the quality of care and the patient experience.
We were happy to add Dr. Chen to our growing family of providers. He has settled in Vancouver, Washington with his wife and two daughters. When Dr. Chen is not working, he likes to explore his new home here in the Northwest.
